Shapes Shapes Shapes

What is your favorite shape?

My favorite shape is the circle because it doesn't have any corners. It just goes around and around and around.

Everything you look at has a shape to it. Most things are in the shape of a triangle, a square, or a circle.

A triangle has three sides
that all look the same

A square has four sides that all look the same

A circle doesn't have any sides, it's just one loop that keeps going.

To practice learning your shapes, grab a parent or a friend and try finding objects around your house that match up with a triange, a square, or a circle.

A World of Colors

What does the sky look like? What does a banana look like?

Everything you see has a color- from the sky above to the grass below your feet. When someone asks you what something looks like, one of the first things you'll tell them is what color it is. In order to do this you'll have to know the name of each color that you see.

We'll start off with three of our favorite colors that we see all the time: Red, Blue, and Yellow.

Red is like the color
of an apple

Blue is like the color
 of the sky

Yellow is like the color
of a banana

As an activity to help you learn the names of these colors, ask a parent or friend to gather together different objects and have you point to the ones that are either red, blue, or yellow and say the name of the color. Have fun!
